Professional ProfilesPyrotechnician

Pyrotechnicians come into their professional own at festivities. They are specialists in the planning and execution of large fireworks and pyrotechnic effects. They find employment, among other things, in companies that specialise in large-scale fireworks, pyrotechnic stage shows, or special effects for film and television. In addition, they also find employment in recreational and amusement parks, as well as for operators of cultural and entertainment facilities.

A creative vein, a good dollop of imagination, a distinct feeling for rhythm, colours and their combination, but also a sense of responsibility and safety are decisive. Training for pyrotechnics, as well as the various specialisations, takes place through private schools or training centres and lasts one week each. However, basic requirements are a minimum age of 21 years, a safety certificate, and 26 demonstrable participations as helpers at events.
