In order to work in the fire department in Luxembourg, you must have successfully completed at least five years of secondary education or have a DAP (or equivalent). In addition, you need an official driving license, you must speak the three official languages of the country, be at least 18 years old and measure 1.65 metres.
If you meet these criteria, you can sign up for recruitment. The recruiting process consists of three parts: the physical exam, the theoretical exam and a job interview. The former consists of several sporting disciplines, in which perseverance and strength are tested. The second refers to language and national knowledge, as well as general mathematical and geometric knowledge. During the concluding interview, the examiners determine whether the candidate has the right basic attitude. In this case, any diploma in firefighting and personal rescue can be beneficial. Even previous volunteer service has a positive effect on an application.
