Professional ProfilesPolice officer

The work of the police is fundamentally divided into two tasks. The uniformed police force (“Police Administrative”) is generally concerned with the safety of citizens: safeguarding public order, execution and compliance with laws and regulations, prevention of crime, or raising public awareness. In this sense, police officers conduct appropriate checks. In the area of judicial police (“police judiciaire”), the officials carry out investigations in the context of criminal offenses. In addition to work in the field, administrative duties represent an important part of the work.

Discipline, patience, quick comprehension, ability to respond, and insight are necessary to make the right decisions in every situation. An open ear, strong nerves, psychological sensitivity, and a balanced personality are just as important in contact with stress, violence, grief, or danger.
