Interviews with HR directorsLaurence Fransen of Bâloise Assurances

How did you become the manager of the HR department?

After I first had the position of HR manager at Utopia SA, I entered the service of the Bâloise Group in 2011. Since then, the company has grown considerably, and we have therefore undertaken a restructuring of the HR sector. In 2016, we established an HR management team and a team of business partners.

What professional profiles are you looking for?

The range of professional profiles we are looking for is quite large, as the business segments of the Bâloise Groupe comprise the national categories of life insurance, property insurance, and also LPS (free movement of services). We would like to speak to both young graduate holders and people with extensive experience, who should be multilingual. We are currently looking for people for IT, as well as legal experts and experts in technical assessment, for digital marketing, and also for further education.

What do you regard as the most important criteria for hiring applicants?

The personality of the applicant is as important to us as his/her technical competence. It is important that each person shares our values, integrates with our teams, and is interested in moving forward professionally and in their personal life. It is primarily about adapting to change, also about being proactive, developing initiative, and always ensuring adequate support for the customer. Our aim is also for synergies to exist between our expectations and those of the future employee so that they can be optimally developed within our corporate culture.
